With the economic aftershocks continuing for many Christchurch businesses, Recover Canterbury is reminding business owners that free help and support is still available.
Recover Canterbury provides a wide range of support and assistance for businesses, including mentoring, referrals, access to training and assistance with business issues such as raising capital or insurance. Through Recover Canterbury, eligible businesses can also access financial assistance through the Canterbury Business Recovery Trust Fund. In the last six months the Trust has distributed a total of $3.1 million and has helped more than 200 Canterbury businesses. Recover Canterbury Communications Manager Pip Tschudin says the need for their support is still very real, as evident by the daily requests for help and financial assistance received by Recover Canterbury. “While they have survived the quakes, the aftershocks continue for many businesses. Loss of clientele, worsening cashflow, skilled staff shortages and increasing relocation costs are some of the major issues business are experiencing – but there are things we can do to help,” says Pip. Recovery Canterbury has 25 business recovery coordinators working on a one-to-one basis with businesses.
