Heard of ‘glamping’?

The Hurunui High Country Track is a 30km, 3-night tramp over the Island Hills high country station in North Canterbury. Walkers travel through open farmland, sub-alpine ridges and native bush and spend nights at old shearers’ quarters. The huts may look unassuming from outside but they are equipped with full kitchens, fridges, coffee plungers and even hot showers in unique ‘bathrooms’. Packs can be transported so all you need to carry is a daypack and a camera – and watch out for a few surprise treats along the way.
John and Erin completed the walk in early January and were really impressed – John calls it ‘tramping without all the hard work’! The track closes at the end of April so get in quick, check out www.walkingtrack.co.nz to book.
